Careers

Fifteen years ago, co-founders Eric Kahan and Elizabeth Goldfeder had an idea - do it different - do it better. Beginning with a small art gallery and framing shop on 22nd Street in the mid 80's later moving to a 20th street location with the first-ever HEPA-filtered clean room for framing, Goldfeder/Kahan Framing, "GK", expanded into a state-of-the-art conservation framing facility in Tribeca in 2001. In relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence, GK has established itself as a trusted institution for the care, preservation and presentation of fine art.

Eric, Kahan spearheads all technical developments and cultivates the company’s legendary employee culture. In 1990, Kahan adapted technologies from the microchip and medical fields to introduce clean room technology to the framing process, a groundbreaking technological advancement that was hailed industry wide.  A graduate of Stonybrook University, in Economics, Studio Art and Photography, Kahan came to the framing industry via his business as a commercial advertising photographer. His work has been published in international periodicals including The New York Times Magazine.

As an active participant in professional conservation groups, Kahan is dedicated to the advancement of art and object preservation. Constantly seeking ways in which to improve the process by which art is documented and catalogued, he has focused specifically on enhancing collections management tools, creating a web-based art management system (www.collectorsystems.com). The innovations of GK have been featured in Picture Framing Magazine, and Kahan has been quoted in numerous shelter publications

Elizabeth Goldfeder has been actively involved in the world of art, conservation and collection management for 20 years. A graduate of Ithaca College, NY, in Art History and Business, Ms. Goldfeder began her career in business with a leading market research firm. In 1986, she established her own conservation framing business in Manhattan, which today, serves a broad spectrum of the collecting community. Goldfeder’s clients include private collectors, international museums, contemporary galleries and Fortune 500 companies. She remains an innovative leader in redefining the framing industry, providing an unparalleled commitment to customer service, quality production and museum standard art preservation.

GK has maintained its superior reputation for customer care and product excellence since moving into its Tribeca location and expanding its client base.  Currently, GK is making preparations to offer custom frames online to extend our superior products to a global market.  Check back for more details soon…
